Look, what I mean is ... back when I was part of that dreamland, back there, your roles are constantly changing so the rules were you shouldn't fall outside of those roles. Be the girlfriend, be the cat, be the killer, be the background noise, whatever. It's pointless to have feelings for humans when you have to follow these roles, same sort of rule, it messes things up.

But at one point I didn't follow the rules, you know why? I couldn't help it. One moment I was trying to be cool, the next I found myself madly in love with someone that could disappear at any second. I wasn't suppose to even be in her dream for that long, but still, I broke the rules and got to date her for as long as I could. It was worth it even though it also sucked. It sucked a lot by the way.

That's what I mean though, get it? I'm not looking to get hit by a bus, but I sure don't want to just do nothing for the rest of my living human days.

[ OH. UM. For all Leto is usually good at maintaining poise, this time that's really... not... a thing. Simply put, they're gobsmacked. ]

[ This is dangerous territory, and Leto feels confused and vulnerable and they are really not used to feeling like that. So instead, in a partial effort to regain control (and partially because they simply can't resist), they reach out to stroke the side of Basil's face. ]

If you did, I'd be intrigued on where you thought you were going with this.
